老樹，巨木，神木是代表著樹木的齡。一般五十年樹齡都稱為老樹，巨木者須有五百至千年的樹齡，而神木則有千年至兩千年樹齡。大雪山神木，又稱大安溪神木，為年齡兩千五百年，樹高五十五公尺，要親自拜訪此世上尊稱超級神木已相當的困難，自九二一地震重創，已被斷路封鎖。

In October 2009, National Geographic featured the American’s super trees. Explorer Mike Fay & Lindsey Holm took an 1,800 miles hike from the southernmost redwood in Big Sar to the northernmost tree near Oregon’s Chetco River, he spent almost a year walking the redwoods. (7)
